Do you know a way to have images scaled when user increases or decreases text size ?

Not a typo. Rem is similar to em but em is relative to the font size of the element while rem is relative to the font size of the root element. See this link for more on rem.

Check Book in Calibre's editor for ePub 2 does report an error. I've come across this type of error many times. Thank you, Jon, for confirming this.

Yes, I'm sure, and I didn't use it, but the format was like your example. I've had rem errors in ePubs that I didn't create.
