Adding empty book - can't enter author name

Hello,

i have a strange behavior with Calibre 6.7.1.

I have created a new profile with my library. When I want to add an empty book, everything works and I can enter an author name.
When I restart Calibre (with the same configuration) and add an empty book then the input field does not work and I can only delete / enter a single character in the input field or can select an existing author. (Screenshot)
When I restart Calibre with debug modus the input field for author works and I can enter an author name.

My debug log is attached.

From the log it looks like you are using Ubuntu. If you are using Wayland it will probably do this. Try booting with x11.

Mate desktop seems OK on Linux Mint (which is sort of more Ubuntu than Debian) with Calibre 6.4 (my current version). I don't upgrade quick unless there is a bug that affects me or a security issue that affects me.
