Help! Kindle e-ink fading issue.

I have a Kindle 8th Gen. It was working very well. Due to work pressure, i couldnt read on it regularly and so it happened i could never touch it for more than 1 month, so the battery got all discharged. I had charged it fully, updated to the latest available software but to my dismay i found the Ebook reader display faded !!
Things i tried (from internet and Amazon service centre advice) -
1. restarting device.
2. puttin in deep freezer for 2 mins! it worked by increased contrast - But the fix was temporary.
3. Hard/factory reset device. Lost all data
But it never worked.
Plz help

Your "data" is all safe, and can be downloaded from your Amazon account. This assumes your content/books all came from Amazon.

According to wikipedia the Kindle 8 was released June 2016. Four years doesn't seem long enough for something like this to happen on its own. Do you remember if you left it in a car that was parked in the sun or had done something else that may have damaged it?

I have a Kindle Touch, 4th generation, announced in 2011, and its display is still fine. Every so often I forget for several months (or years) to charge it and it takes at least a day for it to wake up and start charging so running the battery down doesn't seem to be something that affects the display.

A large fraction of the first batch of K2 (late winter early spring 2009) would fade immediately when exposed to sunlight. amazon and e-ink never said what the cause was, but they fixed it.

Any idea how long that took; how long it had to be left in the sun? Even though the OP's is a Kindle 8 I now wonder if they had left it in the sun in a parked car. On the dashboard face up for example.

Well frankly speaking I never took the Kindle out of my home in all these years!! I kept it in a place where there is NO chance of it getting exposed to sun/sunlight or extremes of temperature/climate.

Mine did it immediately on exposure to sunlight. I got it out of sunlight, did a page change, and everything was fine again. There were a lot of complaints of poor contrast on early K2s, and mine seemed to have better than average contrast, so my solution was to keep mine out of the sun rather than return to amazon.

It certainly could be that modern kindles exposed to excessive heat would also fade, but maybe light is a factor as well. I've never had a problem with sunlight fading modern kindles. It's too bad the exact nature of the problem was never disclosed.

I remember people on the old Kindle forums talking about the sun fade issue with the K2. That was my first Kindle, but I never had that issue. I do remember them saying it happened immediately on exposure to the sunshine. I also don't remember any explanation about why it happened.

That was also on some of the early Sony readers.

If you do not have Amazon Prime, sign up for a free trial. Call Amazon and find out what they are willing to do for you. You can get a new Kindle on sale on Prime Day (October 13-14).

That is what I would do.
