Hello everyone

Hello all MobileRead forum users

As a new PRS-505 user, there are some aspects of this site that have been really helpful and just had to join up.

I mainly use the reader for travelling and college since I can store digital versions of textbooks on it, and thats a lot of weight of my shoulders.

I couldn't live without it now.

Hi rgibbo and welcome to the Forum. I've had a 505 since January and like it a lot.

Where are you located (US, Canada, Europe)?

Hello rgibbo. MobileRead is a great place to come to talk about your new Sony reader. It's good that you find the Sony convenient for reading your text books -- what format are they in? I suppose that if you were a Literature major, you'd be able to find many of your "texts" (novels, etc.) in eBook formats.

I put a couple of PDF files onto my Sony, but found them unreadable since they were intended for a larger "page". I experimented just a bit with producing PDF files with a page size specially configured for the Sony's eInk screen and that worked quite well -- but it's rare that I have the source so it doesn't really solve the problem of PDF files that don't fit.

So, my Sony reader and my Kindle are consigned to entertainment reading.

Other than your textbooks, what kind of books are you reading? You'll find lots of people here who are not only fans of electronic books and readers, but who are also fond of reading in general.

Welcome to MobileRead.
