Wireless driver works for new install not for old one
I am facing a weird problem where the portable install of calibre companion that I am using I am unable to connect to calibre companion. It was just not working one day and no matter what I tried I could not get it to work. As I wanted to try calibre portable beta I installed it and found that the wireless connection was working so happily I updated my original install but the wireless is not working. So I have 2 installs of calibre portable 1 with working wireless device connection the other without.
Can anyone tell me what file should I delete in my settings folder that might be causing the problem as I don't want to loose all my settings though that would be the last resort if I cant fix it. |

The WD settings are in the configuration folder, file name device_drivers_SMART_DEVICE_APP.py.json. or device_drivers_SMART_DEVICE_APP.py on an older system.
My guess is that you are using different ports and one is being blocked. Another guess: somewhere along the way you set IP addresses for the one that isn't working. You can check that by going to calibre Preferences / Plugins, selecting the Smart Device then pressing Configure. An even better idea: run both in debug mode and compare the SMART DEVICE debug lines. You will see the IP addresses and ports it is using. If they are different then change the failing one to use the other info. If they aren't different then the mystery deepens. ![]() |
