A few issues
Hi all. I really like Koreader and I'm glad to see this feature rich E-book reader is updated frequently as well.
However, would someone be able to help me with these few issues? (I looked and I could not find out the answers to these specific questions) 1) This ones simple: Is there a way to remove chapter markers from the heading in an EPUB book (not to be confused with the status bar chapter markers). 2) This ones also simple: Why is it that when I bold a font, I do not get italics to show in my EPUB book but when I take off the bold the italics show. Is there a way to fix this? 3) I'm a bit confused on what the option "Flash every X pages" does in the gesture manager option category? I tired to use it with Reading progress (through a one finger swipe) but nothing really "flashed" after I told Koreader to flash every 2 pages. |

1) May be simple, but I'm afraid I don't know what you mean. The headers in an EPUB book are simply the text put in there by the publisher?
2) It's a bit unclear about what exactly you've been trying. 3) That's referring to a full screen refresh, a black flash. ![]() |

2) Its just a reading preference. Whenever I bold my font that I'm using for the EPUB book I'm reading, all italic styling gets removed. It just remains as a bold font. So this is what the font should look like: Quick Test. Instead its just bolded: Quick Test 3) What exactly is a black flash? With the settings I had it on, I thought it would do something like flash my reading progress on the screen every x pages. (For me that would be every 2 pages) Does it not do something like that? |

1/ You have the "alt" status bar enabled. Kill it with fire. (bottom menu, rightmost tab, first option).
2/ I think you may be the first user *ever* to use this old, old, old feature? ![]() As a quick workaround, you're probably better off not doing that, and instead using a larger contrast value (the option right below the aforementioned messy bold toggle ^^). Or, using better fonts or larger font sizes? 3/ No, it's the actual eInk refresh black flash. That setting only applies when actual text is displayed (i.e., the reader, or dict/wikipedia popups for instance), not UI elements. You haven't told us on which device you're using KOReader, but the fact that you actually see this option should imply that it is some kind of eInk device, so you should be somewhat familiar with the phenomenon. 2) Why does Koreader do that? It's the first reader I've seen that disables italic styling when bold is enabled. I guess I'll reserve myself to just using non bolded font with an increased contrast value for now. Unless there is a fix for this. 3) Ah, I'm a bit bugged to hear that. But no big deal. ![]() I am using two android devices. The first one is an Alcatel Tetra and the other one is a Nextbook Premium 8th edition. The first one is a phone, the second one is a tablet. Both seem to work good with Koreader, except for the aforementioned issues. |

1) Go to data/cr3.ini and set crengine.page.header.chapter.marks=0

https://github.com/koreader/koreader...ssue-437429107 So basically create a folder called scripts.afterupdate. Within that folder create another one called data and a file called migrate. In data folder copy the cr3.ini file modified as you want. To trigger the migration you need to a) update the app or b) uninstall and install the app again or c) settings -> clear app data. |

Huh, eInk options should definitely not be exposed on !eInk devices. I assume you do not see 'em in the Screen settings?
EDIT: Oh, yeah, my bad, I forgot the condition in Dispatcher for those ![]() EDIT²: https://github.com/koreader/koreader/pull/6702 Last edited by NiLuJe; 09-23-2020 at 01:53 PM. |

@Frenzie: Ah, thanks.
@Moonbeam111: Then my next guess is that you may actually be missing a BoldItalic style in your font of choice. (Or its metadata is bogus and CRe rejects it, check the logs). |

It appears that the cr3.ini is generated after the install of KOReader, as it is not in my old download packages. I am lucky enough to have kept copies of KOBOereader folder, which included the koreader folder. So I could copy over the data folder with the cr3.ini. It also included the hyph folder and a bunch of .css files. That's how I brought over all my dictionary files. I also brought over my old koreader/fonts folder. So far my old Kobo KOReader files are working fine, as assets for my Android devices.
Luck; Ken |
