Unhappy Need help to retrieve clippings file from bricked kindle

Title says it all tbh. I accidentally stepped on my beloved Kindle PW3 and cracked the screen. Screen replaement was really expensive so I went and bought new kindle. My problem is I've been using it since 2015 and I had tons of clippings. I don't have them in cloud because Amazon doesn't sell books in my native tongue so I bought epubs only.

The kindle constantly lights up and down when I try to charge it if this information helps. I'm %100 ok with disassembling it if it would let me connect to a PC.

When you connect it to your PC via USB cable it should be detected as a removable drive. So just copy "MyClippings.txt" file from "documents" folder.

Kindle drive > documents > MyClippings.txt

Or even better: copy the whole documents folder to backup books and notes.

Problem is my pc doesn’t recognise it as a removable drive. I tried both in windows and linux.

Sorry, somehow I've managed to not read "if it would let me connect to a PC".
Maybe try leaving it charging for couple of days before retrying connecting to PC and/or see if pressing and holding power button for 20+ second and then connecting to PC makes any difference.

If all that doesn't work then your only hope is disassembly and soldering wires to serial pads to try get those files via diagnostics.

I suppose it’s not something that can be done at home.(?)

If leaving it on for a few days, I would certainly monitor the thing while it's plugged in. No telling what might have happened to that battery when you stepped on your Kindle.
