Boox 60 updating

I have just brought my 60 back into use after about ten years. My books are still all there; I downloaded a new memoir in PDF without trouble and it reads well.
However, it did not complete the screen/stylus calibration well. On the third X it froze and I could not get rid of the message to re-calibrate without turning it off.
Is there any way to improve the screen (I do not want to install a new one)?

Does the imperfect calibration really matter? All navigation works, although it's slow and clunky.

Is there a software/firmware update available?

I can't really help with your specific problem but it's really surprising that the battery survived that long. Did you charge it up sometimes or left it alone?

No, it hasn't been charged for years. It was OK but now I have another problem - the on/off button is stuck in and that has frozen the whole device. So, new questions:
1. Where can I get service?
2. If service is not available, how to open the case? Is it like iPod, mobile phones or tablets where the case can be carefully split with tools?
