Are We Sure about the Aura ONE's Future
Although I have both an Aura ONE and a Forma (and like and use both), I have no particular interest in having page buttons, and in general prefer the Aura ONE. That being the case, I've been dismayed to keep seeing that the Aura ONE is discontinued. What I'm hoping to hear is that this is an assumption but not necessarily one that has been verified.
So... Is there any possibility at all of an upgrade to the Aura ONE at some point in the future? I'd love to keep the same form factor with maybe a bit more by way of processing power, etc. Paul |

Maybe?
The Forma is the future of the Aura One, but we don't know what the future of the Forma will be. The Libra would seem to indicate that Kobo is pleased with the overall form factor and is just tweaking things. We'll have to wait and see what the "Forma 2" will look like. |

The Forma and the Libra H2O form factor is likely to be the basis for the next large screen ereader from Kobo. |

I have never used a ereader with buttons, so I don't know how I could find it and if I could think that buttons are a must for me.
I like very much the Aura One because it is the larger ereader that I can take with me. A 6" device of course is more easy to take but I can still take the 7.8" KA1. I am sure that I couldn't take with me a Forma because it is too large. So I would like that Kobo replace it with a analogous more modern device but I also think that it will not happen. |

I would like a Kobo Aura H2O (without the slot cover) type larger screen Reader. I rather like the design. Don't make it too thin and use a hefty battery.

I doubt that we are going to see another device from Kobo this year seeing as the FCC database shows no signs of any new devices. Though posting this may mean I'll see mention of the new device on my next pass through their page.

I totally agree. I have both the KA1 and the Forma. Both are excellent but the KA1 is the much preferred.
I vote for an improved KA1 in the near future. |

It doesn't look like this is going to happen. Apparently both Amazon and Kobo are happy with their (almost) square shaped eReaders. They don't quite look right to me, but I've never tried one, so my opinion is basically worthless on this subject.

It is my current dilemma; purchase a Forma now or wait for the next high end reader? My Aura One battery needs a charge every week now, it's not unbearable, just annoying.

Is there anyone who offers a service putting in new batteries for the KA1? My battery seems fine for now, but just wondering.

Not that I know. Moreover, it is a waterproof device so I don't expect this is possible. That's why I'm a bit on the fence to purchase a Forma, at this price tag, I expect the battery lasts for 5-10 years, not 3.

But so much of what affects battery life overall is out of their hands. Charge cycles, storage temperature, etc. |

All waterproof watches allow replacing the battery. It's certainly possible on the original H2O and the Libra to replace the cell, and they are both waterproof by different methods.
