restrict library and view and changes for anonymous users?
I know if I require authentication, I can then limit write access, library access, and view access per user. Anyway to set that for anonymous users so I don't even have to use authentication?

No, if you are exposing your library over the internet you really should add authentication otherwise unless you have only public domain books in your libraries you would be violating copyright.

It's only being exposed on my local lan. Just want to make it super accessible to the kids. Can the content server track books read and progress for each user, no matter what device they switch to?

If you setup user accounts, yes. If not, no.
