Importing content stops
Sorry for all the spamming threads but thanks to a kind person I finally got the Collection problem solved. Now next.
When I import via calibre to the Sage the updating content never goes beyond 10% and then whoom straight to Home screen where only a limited number of the books I sent to the Sage appear. Then when I reconnect the Sage to calibre only those books show up. Is there anyone else who has experienced the same problem and how do I work around it? This never happened on my Aura! |

I have experienced it. A book had errors and after fixing them importing worked.
How many books are you importing in one batch? |

I have also experienced this when I try to import more than ~250 books in one batch. In my case, it wasn't because a book contained errors, because when I limited the import to 100 books at a time, everything worked flawlessly. I suspected the Kobo was timing out or going to sleep before it finished importing, so I tried setting the reader to "Never sleep" but that didn't help. Now I limit the number of books I transfer to ~200 at a time. That seems to work.

I just had to restore a Clara BW. I tried to send about 1100 books in one shot. It said it completed it, but "only" took about 900 books. A second send transferred everything else successfully.

Oh, good, lol. Maybe I'll try increasing the number of books I send in one batch to 500 and see how it goes. Thank goodness I don't have to do this very often.

I believe that once the syncing has stopped for any reason, until the possibly corrupt file is removed from the file system subsequent syncs will also fail.
Is it possible that you're just trying to load way too many files onto your device and that it's just running out of resources? Either RAM or too many entries in a directory? |

Not in my case. Loading too many books at one time seems to be the culprit. If I transfer the same books in smaller batches, they upload just fine.

For my purposes, the last time I factory reset a Kobo, I transferred the 4200 books that were on it back in one batch and they were imported without issue. I then restored the reading status using Kobo Utilities and all went well.
One item though is that I have editing all my ebooks for years and they pass epubcheck without real errors before being moved from my Intake library to my Main library in calibre. Quite a few fanfics that I downloaded were a total mess with code that is not supported by ePub being used so epubcheck spewed pages of error messages. Not to mention committing the sin of using absolute sizes. Yeah, the result may have looked good on the author's 10" high-res Android tablet but looked like crap on a 6" screen ereader. |

Got it done. Obviously it was trying to syncing too many books. When I broke them down into batches I finally got it all done. 28202 books done. Hopefully this will never be needed again. Well, until the next Kobo.

Congratulations. I'm glad it worked. I am a fanatic about validating ebooks, so I'm reasonably certain that errors in the ebooks were not the cause of my problem, especially since everything loaded correctly in smaller batches.
