Amazon requesting to change password

Hello guys. I hope you can help me.
I was trying to download an older version of Kindle for PC, and at some point I was asked to login in. I put my e-mail and password, but then I was told that I had to change my password.
I suspected on it, and tried to log in on amazon.com to see if someone had changed my password or anything like that. And as I tried to log in on the website, the same message appeared, and I had to create a new password.
Is it common for Amazon to ask it?
PS: The message came as I tried to log in on Amazon's website, not through e-mail. But I was sent an email with a code, and this email was sent by account-update@amazon.com.br (br because Im from Brazil)

I wonder if that was a phishing email? Amazon hasn't, so far, asked me to re log-in.

Maybe check with Amazon customer service? They might have more information, and they should be able to confirm it was Amazon who requested the change.

Amazon has asked me to type in a code they sent by email from time to time, but never to change a password.
If they want to you to change the pw because they think something dodgy is going on, you might want to check your transactions. Just to make sure you are the only person using your account ....

Any legimate Amazon email will also be in your Messages page, found in your Account on the Amazon site.

If that email isn't in the Messages area of your account, it's not from Amazon.
