Will Calibre Search My Whole HDD?

Can I set calibre to search my whole HDD - or even my whole computer (6 drives) - for a specific type of book? Identified by extension like .pdf or whatever?

Or by filename with wildcard like, for instance science*.* ?

And when it imports books from the kindle for pc folder and brings that useless second file of the same name is there an easy way to have it delete all those?

You can try Add > Add from directories and sub-directories, but it might have...unexpected results and I don't know if there's any way to tell it to import just one type of file.

On Windows 10, I use Everything to index my drives to track down any stray ePubs.

Just search your drive for files with that extension in windows eplorer and drag and drop the results into calibre book list.

Thanks, guys, too easy. I"ve even got 'everything', too and use it all the time. I think I've gotten out of the habit of thinking for myself.
