Oasis differences to Voyage
I understand the brightness and colour differences. My Voyage won hands down, but the extra size of the Oasis, for the most part, made up for it.
I have a couple of issue with my Oasis (2019) I want to work out if it is just a normal Oasis thing or I have an Oasis with potential problems. It crashes Calibre a lot and requires a reboot most times when this happens. I would say one in 5 or 6 times it refuses to eject from the USB, most time you just have to plug it back in and eject again. Sometimes you have to reboot the Oasis to clear it. Using Voyage for 3 years, I think it crashed Calibre once, and did not eject twice. It also wakes up so much slower than my Voyage when you turn it on. If this is just life with the Oasis I can live with it. What I dread is after I have 1500 books loaded it just dies. So a long-winded way of asking should I be concerned? thank you ![]() |

Never happened with any of my Oases. Do you eject with Calibre or with Windows?
Waking up slowly is normal for an Oasis. The Oasis hibernates to save battery, the Voyage just sleeps. |

^ That's correct, but I have no idea how much time passes before it goes into hibernation. I like the feature: It's a painless experience for me, and if it saves on battery consumption, then great!

In general, it can be a big battery charge saver, but for people that read several times a day separated by over 30 minutes, it could cause the battery to run down faster. I think that and sleep cover misbehavior are the primary causes of the Oasis 2's reputation for poor battery life, although the smaller battery was not a good idea. |

The slow wake up would be after 30 minutes, so I now understand that. I do find the battery no were as good as the voyage. I always have Bluetooth off. Mind you 1000plus page turns a day is pretty normal for me. ![]() |
