PRS-700 video

Hi,

Someone posted a video on Youtube documenting his unpacking and first experience of a brand new PRS-700. The unboxing may have been faked since the reader was already charged up, but still...

Not sure what his comments are being the unilingual slouch that I am (but still a tasty morsel for those of us still trying to decide...).

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=glMfDBQGnCc

Enjoy! I hope this links automatically...

When I received my 700, it was about 1/2 charged out of the box, so I was able to play with it instantly. for the video.

Comments are just him describing the different functions and buttons, he says he owns the 505 and he can't tell that much of a difference between both screens and that he is unsure if the cam will do the screen justice.

Great video btw

Thanks el.astrologo, that's good to hear. I will have to return to the SonyStyle store to judge for myself (again). Unfortunately last time the 700 on display had barely any charge, and the 505 didn't have the firmware update (I was interested in the PDF support).

Hopefully this time the sales rep will know more about the device, rather than having me educate him. Some memorable moments:

Sales rep (amazed, then disappointed): "Wow, you can zoom in on PDFs with this thing!? Man, I wish I had known it could zoom... I lost a sale yesterday cuz the guy wanted that!"

Sales rep (of the 700, as it was held beside the 505): "Wow, the screen doesn't look so good."

Please don't respond with "the 700 screen is just fine and perfectly readable". I'm just reporting my disappointing Sony Style experience!
Despite the bad quality of the video posted on Youtube, the screen looks okay - I really have to look again in person!

Okay, but you should know the screen really is readable
I think the problem is psychological bias when direct comparison
is made with the 505 and 700. You look at both and subcontiously
you want the 700 to read like the 505 but keep comparing back and
forth until your mind tells you the 700s screen won't look exactly like
the 505 so you quite.

Here's another way to judge and compare:
If you forget the 505 entirely (don't even look or compare side by side)
and really get to know Mr. 700 I think you'll be hooked in no time.

Worse case scenario? you don't like it, RETURN IT!

People by nature are quick to judge and mistakenly don't give things
a chance, of course if you are used to an older technology then
comfort takes over and you're mind retreats to "safe" instead of
"benefit of the doubt"

my $0.02

Yeah, I know, some sales rep are just plain silly... last week I went to a store to buy one of those mini-laptops (the EEEpc and the like) so I asked the guy what processor it had and he said "Intel", I pushed a little harder and asked WHICH Intel chip, his answer? "The best one out there"

I mean COME ON... anyways, not his fault, he was just trying to make a few bucks
