Switching from kindle keyboard to libra
Hi there all!
First of all, I wanna apologize since English is not my language but I'll try! I'm thinking of switching my old kindle keyboard to a new libra. The main reason is I feel the kindle is sooo slow when reading booking books and I also wanna order the books. I know there's a plugin for calibre for for reasons I dont't know, I can't get it to work. Do you think is a good change? I suppose it is: the libra is faster, up-to-date, has more options and can read more formats than the old kindle (including that cbr-cbz comic/manga format). Besides, I want a new ereader because I'll start reading manga on it (the tablet I own is being use by other family members) and need to know if it's a good option to do it (the turn page time and all that stuff...) Wanna read your opinions! |

Any current ereader will be an improvement over the Kindle keyboard. Higher resolution screens with more contrast and front lighting. Warm lighting or waterproofing (or both in the case of the Libra).
If you are comfortable with Calibre and want more control over your collection, a Kobo might be a good fit. Which one just depends on how large a screen you want. Incidentally, I was just playing with a Kindle keyboard last weekend. It was neat, but felt so antique. My first reader was the Nook Simple Touch with Glowlight, so I've been used to touchscreens and lighting since the start. |

- I chose libra over forma because I think forma may be too big (but on the other hand it can be a good point to read some stuff like manga, precisely) and clara, for what I see, is quite the same size as keyboard. The libra seems ok and I always keep the ereader in a backpack or similar.
- As far as I've been reading the forum, kobo has so many options to personalize it'll be a new world for me! (compared with the kindle and its system...) - The touchscreen... I can get used to it besides libra has two physical buttons so quite equal to kindle in that aspect. - My idea is to use some book type cover so I hope battery won't dry too much. - The light is a good point? I usually read by night and use a side lamp. Of course I use the ereader outdoors but not so many times (mostly when travelling). |

If you're going to be reading manga I think you want a Forma. It is not "too big" for that function. Don't worry, it is very light weight.
I guess I would characterize it as (imo): * On the go: 5 or 6 inch reader * Preferred size for fiction: 7 inch * for manga: 8 inch * for pdf: 10 or 13 inch |

Also, even though screen is the same size, it is a much better, newer screen. Quote:

The waterproofing, maybe not a big deal. But it can be reassuring if you are outside and it starts to rain or you are camping. |

On a Forma with 4.22 firmware, the FAT32 partition shows 6.73GB space. With 3234 books on the Forma, it currently shows 2.41GB free. That number will vary depends on the size of the books.
