I swear it's nowhere near as long as my old first-gen PW was.

Not the answer you want, but if you use a larger font you will be turning pages more often -- and thus not timing out. (That's not why I use a larger font, bit I guess it's a side effect.)

I'm curious: Does the Oasis 3 time out when the touch screen is disabled? I've never experienced this.

I love the fact that I can disable the screen.

(I've had my Oasis 3 for two weeks now and I'm LOVING it!)

Yes. I almost exclusively read with the touchscreen disabled.
