I'm really disappointed in these newer versions. I went back to 3.47 (64 bit). I really missed the ability to turn pages and reset pages by page number. The new format is fine if I'm reading a printed paperback or bound book but just doesn't work for me with ebooks on my PC.

You can turn the page using page numbers. Control-G will allow you to go to a specific page using the page number. So give 4.18 a try and see how you get on.

I dunno. That I personally find the use of Comic Sans and upsizing the font size to be excessively annoying?

There was nothing said that could not have been said using the standard font and font size. Not to mention bringing up the viewer issues which have long been discussed to death.

But perhaps in retrospect, it is best to not mix personal judgments with font preferences. For instance, I assumed the OP had vision or reading problems. Comic Sans is a preferred font with dyslexics. Perhaps I am wrong.

Interesting. Looking at the item you posted:
Quote:
The researchers didn’t include Comic Sans in their study, but dyslexics say the irregularities of the shapes make it easier for them to isolate the different parts of the letter. Many typefaces utilize mirroring in their designs (i.e. flipping a “p” around to become a “q”.) Comic Sans focuses on creating distinct shapes. Only the “b” and “d” are mirrored. The font is highly recommended by reputable dyslexia organizations across Europe and the US.
Yup, the researchers did not include Comic Sans in their research. Which makes the comments from dyslexics of little value though I had to admire how the writer tried to conflate the two. And the reputable dyslexia organizations statements all seem to trace back to the BDA which is unable to show any research as a basis for their claim. Empirical evidence would be nice to see instead of small samples of self-reported anecdotal evidence. See Comic Sans Is (Generally) Lousy: Letters and Reading Challenges.

You might want to check this study: A Web Based Voting Application Study of Fonts for Voters with Dyslexia where Helvetica was rated over Open Dyslexic and Lexia Readable in quite a few of the tests.

While I agree that making forum posts in Comic Sans is bad netiquette I have to nitpick here:

It seems to me the author of that post was making a point against haughty recommendations of Comic Sans to children and the dyslexic, not doubting that anyone in the world could find that font easier to read. I hope that the author's own experience with autism prevents him from passing "you just cannot possibly like this" type of judgments on others.

My best friend is dyslexic and he has set up his computer to use Comic Sans instead of the usual Windows UI font so clearly YMMV.

Ghod knows I've supplied computer support to enough dyslexic and autistic students to know that font choice is very individual. Anything from Arial to Helvetica to Open Dyslexic to Merriweather to whatever else the student finds easier to read. I find the blanket recommendation of any font for any person to be pretty useless since fonts choices tend to be personal and often the person can't explain why that font works better for them. Whatever works is the best way to go.

Here you can read a request by a municipal councilor to abolish the comic font sans from all the acts of his municipality (Ferrara, in northern Italy).
It is in Italian but with the google translator it no longer matters. He is not wrong, I saw that font designed for comics in contracts, municipal resolutions and municipal regulations etc.

https://www.leonardofiorentini.it/co...el-comic-sans/

Of course if a dyslexic can read it better than a more traditional font the situation is different.

If the initiative is passed, will it be carved in stone?

The carved into stone writing I had in mind were the cliff inscriptions at Bisutun in Iran.

How about some Etruscan carved on travertine ==>> https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Etrusc...di_Perugia.jpg
