Fixing Kindle 4 K4 NT
My son has an older kindle that I'd love to fix. It crashes and books become corrupted and can't open.
Things I have tried: -factory reset (freezes and rebooting just boots back to existing situation) -firmware upgrade (from 4.1.3 to 4.1.4; freezes at the very end and rebooting again boots back into status quo) -reformat from windows -reformat in linux -I've even dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sda1 to the partition What is absolutely crazy to me is I can delete all the books, do a reboot and they re-appear. I've even reformated the kindle and the books re-appear. Ideally I would like to -upgrade the firmware -factory reset Both freeze, and I can un-freeze it but it just boots back into the status quo. When that happens the device will still appear to somewhat work because recent changes are cached in memory. Rebooting reverts back to what is in storage. |
