Screenshot Question Across Devices

Can anyone tell me how to take a screenshot with a Kobo Forma? I also want to ask how to do the same with an Aura One. I believe screenshots on other Kobos involved the power button, but I haven't had any success with either my Forma or Aura One. Any info appreciated!

The screenshots feature can be enabled by adding Screenshots=true under [Feature settings]. But, note that this completely takes over the power button.

If you're doing this on a regular basis, I'd suggest using NickelMenu instead, where you can add a toggle to the main menu or the reader menu.

Also, note that screenshots will get imported as books on the next USB connection/sync. If you want to prevent this, I suggest you connect to a computer to delete them first. Alternatively, you can use NickelMenu to add a menu item to rename/delete them. You might also be able to use the new-ish sync exclude option in the config file, but I haven't tried it myself.

I always undid the line in my .conf file for fear of that. But recently I stumbled on that if I hold the power button on my Glo HD for about 4-5 seconds, I get a screenshot. If I keep the power button depressed longer though, it does eventually still shut off the reader. Might take 10 seconds or so, but I no longer swap the line in and out anymore since discovering that.

@Ripplinger: The hard-poweroff on long-long-press is not something I'd recommend relying on a regular basis as a "please turn off" button.

It's basically a low level power cutoff, which may not play very nice with the software and the storage layer/filesystem.

(i.e., only use it when you *have to*, i.e., a crash/deadlock).

That's good to know. I actually never shut off my reader, I always use a sleep cover. It's only in a dire emergency when nothing else works that I'd resort to turning the power off, which fortunately is extremely rare. That's why I always used to comment out the line, I was always afraid I'd have no way to actually power it off in case it really got hung up and wouldn't respond to anything else.

Please could you elaborate on how to set up a NickelMenu item to delete old screenshots?

Something like:

menu_item:main:Delete Screenshots:cmd_output:500:rm -v /mnt/onboard/screen_*.png

or

menu_item:main:Move Screenshots:cmd_output:500:mv -v /mnt/onboard/screen_*.png /mnt/onboard/.screenshots/

I might have mixed up the filename pattern, though, as I haven't used screenshots in a while.
