I had my PW1 plugged into my laptop while I force reset the Kindle (or it was just rebooting, not certain). Suddenly, my Windows 10 laptop started saying, "The last device you connected malfunctioned and Windows does not recognize it" whenever I plug in my Kindle. This actually has happened before, but it fixed itself randomly. This time, it won't fix. I've searched all over for solutions!
If plugged into Windows (my main OS), I get that error. It doesn't show up on Mac's Finder or terminal's mount. Linux is the same as Mac. The Kindle can charge regardless of operating system though. Steps I have tried: - On Windows, restarting laptop, deleting and reinstalling drivers via restart, trying to install MTP USB device driver for the Kindle (doesn't show up in the list for recommended drivers or all drivers), turning off USB selective suspend, using multiple different USB cables, plugging into a different port, setting up a web server via miniweb (Kindle couldn't connect). - On Kindle, rebooting, restoring to factory settings (which got rid of jailbreak), leaving it charging for a full day (as someone suggested in another thread), emailing notes to myself (Kindle can't attach a file in the browser). Amazon support was pretty useless and just told me basic troubleshooting I've already done. I am looking for either a fix to connect via USB OR a way to access MyClippings.txt wirelessly, since that's all I need from it that I can't seem to access via Calibre (I can send books via Calibre's content server). As aforementioned, my Kindle isn't jailbroken anymore, so can't use any tool from there. Any ideas would be appreciated! In fact, wireless fire system access ideas would be preferred. |
