Encrypted XHTML?

Hi, bought some Epub digital book on an app, tried to import it to Calibre and got weird characters instead of text. inspected the Epub and the XHTML files are just filled with this weird characters.

the book reads fine on the original app.

That is pretty common. <sarcasm>After all you shouldn't expect to be able to read that book on anything but their app.</sarcasm>

The book has some DRM cryptography. Sadly the instruments to remove DRM that You can find on the Apprentice Half blog generally don't work for ebooks buyed within apps.

If You want to read Your ebook within calibre and then everywhere You want You must be sure, before to buy it, that it is possible remove DRM from it.

Assistance for DRM removing is not permitted here but in the Apprentice Half blog You can find the instruments, the relative readme and on the net more information.

Welcome to the Wonderful World of DRM. If you are unsure if an eBook can have the DRM removed with the DeDRM tools, you can ask. We cannot tell you how to do it. But we can tell you if it can be done.

For example, from Simon & Shuster, I sometimes get an offer for a free eBook. The problem with the offer is that they use Glose for their offer. That means i need to use the Glose app to be able to download and read these eBooks. I cannot read them on my Reader. They are encumbered with Glose's DRM. So even if I could get the eBooks out of Glose, I cannot do anything with them.
