Is there a way to "collapse" authors in the main display after an author sort?

Hello everyone,

I have done my best searching the forums, but can not seem to find the relevant answer, and apologize if I am asking a question that has already been asked. I am not even sure if this is the correct subforum for his question.

I love Calibre and its organizing abilities for my ebooks. I have collected many ebooks, and usually sort by author. When I am looking through the book library, it has become very cumbersome to scroll down through all the books written by one author to get to the next author's books (some authors like James Patterson are very prolific writers). Is there a way to condense / collapse the authors (similar to the format when Calibre exports books) so that the main library display has a single entry for an author, which can then be opened to see and access the books he has written if so desired? Thank you.

No but what you can do is open the list of authors in the tag browser click on each one in turn to see the books by him.

There is also the Similar Books tool, by default it is in the Book List context menu, you could add it to a tool bar via Preferences->Toolbars and menus, or do as I do, use the keyboard shortcuts.

If you can see a book by required Author, make it the current book and press Alt+A, this will list the books by that Author, similarly Alt+P for Publisher, Alt+S for Series, and Alt+T for Tags.
