Print Spines

Is there a way in Calibre (or a plugin) that would print a library of spine-like images (title, author, approximated thickness and height, varied colors, perhaps an icon like a publisher's imprint) only?

Basically, something that looks like a bookshelf?

(Yes, I'm thinking of making a background for videoconferencing showing my actual e-library).

You would have to write the plugin to do what you want to create the virtual bookshelf.

You might be able to make a hack the Generate Cover PI

That's a start. The Generate Cover plugin can make something with some metadata in the right size and shape. But that's about it. Not sure how I'd print those like a bookshelf.

You could try hacking Generate cover to get it to create the spine images as say: '{title} - {author}.jpg' files in a desktop folder called 'spines'.

Then create a panorama image from the spine images, I would use ICE from MS Research Labs, it's free.
