cant get added columns to stick - lost at restart
i must be doing something stupid here, please help

i created a column - reading- added it to main view and populated it. all good until I quite calibre and restart, then its vanishes from teh main view- I have ot go to preferences, add column... to get it to re-appear again

in case it was my dodgy create, i tried also to add a predefined column - so I add date modified to main view... same behaviour, its there until a restart, then gone

they both survive quit to tray, but not a full quit.
am i missing a save button or something silly?
I use preferences, add your own columns, tick, apply, close.

ps . more tests. nothing I do to main window survives a restart. even a simple thing like re- arranging columns, or column widths
i wonder if a config file is messed up and thus not being updated.
after a restart my main display window always reverts to these 6 columns in this order
title, pages, series, authors, date, format
i found the installer - 4.14. ran repair. no change
so it I move series to the left of pages, quit, restart, its back in the previous order again
what config file can I delete and re-create ?

Are you using the View Manager plugin? With the option to start with a particular view?

dunno about a plugin
it used to start with a view of "read" = i, where "read" was a column i refined
I changed the name of that column to "reading" so it did not clash with the pre-defined" read" within calibre companion, and that's when the problem started.


i can't remember/ can't find how to change the view that calibre starts up with

but could all that have messed up being able to do iimple things like change the left to right order or width of standard columns

yes, that's set me on the right track. i searched plugins, found view manager, set it to open with last view used rather than default- I think I can take it from here, thanks
