Can we export the Table of Contents

I'd like to use the Table of Contents as the starting point to take notes of the books I read. Is there a way to export the Table of Contents in a human readable format?

I got as far as exporting the toc.ncx but I couldn't find a converter anywhere. It wouldn't be too hard to write one myself but I just wanted ask here first. Maybe there's an easier way?

Update:

There's a converter call Pandoc that can convert xml to markdown but it doesn't include indents for subheadings.

Found the solution within Calibre. When we right click on the Table of Contents in E-book viewer, there's "Copy table of contents from clipboard."

There is also a plugin that can extract the ToC to a custom column in the library. I suspect the method you have found is better for what you are doing, but, it might be useful.

It isn't in the plugin list. It is at GUI Plugin "TOC View Generator".
