Hi there!
Personal docs that are .mobi were sent to my Kindle account and then downloaded from the table app. I had to factory reset my tablet for some reasons, and before that I made a backup of the Kindle folders in Android, but after the amateur method of pasting over after resetting didn't bring me back my highlights. I'm sure they are there in my backup but I don't know how to restore it. I also made an export with the specific feature, that generates a html file, but I also don't know how to bring it back to link it to the ebook. I tried kindle mate but it doesn't recognize the android tablet. I would be sufficient to do in in the PC Kindle Program, but I also don't know how to do that. Android folders are: - com.amazon.kindle - kindle I see these file extensions: - .prc - .ser - .ticr - .ticr.backup Thank you. |

If you download the book to your Android app from your Amazon account then any annotations you made in the app should have been synced back to your account and should reappear if you download the book again to your new installation.

Thank you, but as I mentioned above, they are non-kindle ebooks, aka Personal Docs.
I made a backup that contains all that extensions and folders. I don't know how to restore the hightlight, i.e. the metadata. The docs are pretty easy to redownload from personal docs. |

Amazon syncs annotations for personal documents that are downloaded from your account. I just tested it with a personal document on the Kindle for Android app and it worked for me. Highlights I made there appeared in the same book in Kindle for iOS on my phone. Syncing will not work if you sideloaded the book by copying the file instead of downloading from your account using the app.
To answer your question, I don't know how Kindle for Android stores annotations. I suspect they are kept in the private app storage that is not accessible unless your device is jail broken. Regarding the files you found: .prc is the book itself .ser is a search index .ticr is data related to time left in book/chapter Last edited by jhowell; 05-02-2020 at 06:26 PM. |

Thank you. In my case I downloaded those books (personal docs) directly from my account and they aren't synched in my different devices :-(
A second option could be restoring somehow using the html copy I also made and maybe kme or calibre but I don't know how to do it. Or even restoring those html annotations in the PC Program would be enough for me. Last edited by Yoan; 05-03-2020 at 04:26 AM. |
