iOS “Read” button request

Please add the ability to disable the messaging send for books. This appears top and center every time I go to open a book in the reader app, and I can’t think of a reason I would want to send a book over apple messaging.

That actually comes from Apple. You can edit the list to remove what you don't want to see and move your preferred apps to the front of the queue. I have Marvin as the first app when it pops up on my iPad.
