Rename multiple titles in series?
Greetings and thanks in advance for any help you can provide.
I have a series of books that I previously had name in the following format - "<series name> <series #> - <title>", e.g. "Series 0001 - Title of book". There are quite a few of them, and I'd like to remove the prefix <series name> <series #> so that I am just left with <title>, e.g. "Title of book". Is this possible to do in Bulk Metadata editing using find/replace and some kind of expression or string? |

Mode is replace field Decoded: look for anything up to and including: space dash space (discarded) Capture everything after that. replace the title field with the capture |

Yes, in the Search and Replace tab of the bulk metadata editing. You'll need to use the regular expression mode on the title field.
the search expression you'll need is something like ^[^-\d]+\d+_-_ and the replace field should be blank. (The search expression says ^ -: match from the start of the field (well, line, but there's only one line in a title field) [^-\d]+ : one or more characters that aren't a dash or a digit \d+ : one or more numeric digits _-_ : space dash space) where the underscores are spaces. It will show you what the effect will be on the first ten titles. |

If any of your actual titles include space dash space, then theducks' expression will delete up to the final space dash space, not the first one.
But mine might have undesired side effects too - I haven't spent very long looking at it. |
