Calibre adding downloaded book in DMS with OPF
I've spent at least 30 minutes searching the forum and now given up and joined the forum to ask folks for help here.
I've downloaded a journal article that comes as a .dms file. If I decompress it, Calibre's reader will open the OPF file so I can read it on my computer. So it worked and the information seems to be there. But I can't figure out how to add it to Calibre so I can send it to my Kindle. (up to date Calibre on Mac Catalina) I've tried a bit blindly a few things. Add OPF. Add DMS. Uncompress dms, zip entire folder and add zip. Zip just the OPF file... The link to the download is here that leads to a compressed dms file https://conflictandhealth.biomedcent...031-020-0257-2 Grateful for advice. And while I'm here - add my thanks to the creator of Calibre and I presume a bunch of contributors that support it. It's fantastic. |

If the dms file is just a zip file, try renaming it to epub then add it to calibre and convert from epub to epub

The pathname in the link implies that this is an ePub file, though it downloads Firefox on Win10 without an extension. I added a ".zip" extension and File Explorer could navigate the folder tree in the ZIP successfully and revealed typical ePub structure. When I changed the extension to ".epub" it would open fine in calibre's Editor.
It seems that the site is not correctly configured for handling ePubs and the OP's browser added the ".dms" as its default for an "unknown" data stream. This used to be a common issue here on MR, back in the days when ePubs were new. |
