BUT first read the sticky https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=119175 ( ![]() Calibre folders follow how the names appear in the spreadsheet. BUT there is almost ZERO need for the user to look beneath the skirts (inside the Library folder). NEVER edit a file or folder name inside Calibre except by using Calibre to cause it. You will break the linkages |

Calibre has a lot of good plugins but also a lot of configurable options in itself and I am looking for the latter. I guess there must be some way to do it but I get lost among so many options...

I don't have a cervantes ereader but the plugin supports a Save template. One friend of mine uses the following template for save to disk. Code:
{author_sort:sublist(0,1,&)}/{title}/{author_sort:sublist(0,1,&)} - {series:| |}{series_index:0>5.2f| | - }{title} A couple of examples of the output: Code:
Piper, H. Beam Little Fuzzy Piper, H. Beam - Little Fuzzy.epub Space Viking Piper, H. Beam - Space Viking Flint, Eric An Oblique Approach Flint, Eric - Belisarius 01.00 - An Oblique Approach.epup Portal Flint, Eric - Boundary 03.00 - Portal.epub |

AGAIN
Quality check plugin A useful tool To standardize the entries (almost any. One kind at a time) The CHECK part only identifies (temporary mark) issues. You use other tools to fix selected entries. Some are part of Calibre (Bulk metadata edit), some others are in the FIX section of this PI. For advanced users, DaltonST has some really deep level tools SORTING is set in Preferences: TWEAKS ID: author_sort_copy_method ID: title_series_sorting <and there are some more> ![]() AND AGAIN Stop looking 'under the skirts'. It will get you into a deep mess if you touch. Calibre will deliver books (Send to, Save as)to a device, without ever knowing where IN the Library, they were stored. |

Also, save to disc will deliver copies of books with a filename template of your choice.
Don't touch the library names |

Check the calibre FAQ. Pay special attention to the section titled Why doesn’t calibre let me store books in my own directory structure?.
Please note the FAQ has a procedure for changing the author name display from FN LN to LN, FN. It's a bit of a pain but it's the only way to change that order without breaking calibre. Code:
When changing from FN LN to LN, FN, it is often the case that the values in author_sort are already in LN, FN format. If this is your case, then do the following: Set the author_sort_copy_method tweak to copy as described above. Restart calibre. Do not change any book metadata before doing the remaining steps. Open the Manage authors dialog. Press the copy all author sort values to author button. Check through the authors to be sure you are happy. You can still press Cancel to abandon the changes. Once you press OK, there is no undo. Press OK, at which point calibre will change the authors in all your books. This can take a while. As far as manually changing anything in the calibre library, treat the calibre library as a black box and do not go poking behind the curtain. Last edited by DNSB; 04-11-2020 at 12:54 PM. |
