Moving Libraries from Portable to Fixed

I have a portable copy of calibre whith a large number of books and library directories. Somehow it got damaged, but the library files/directories are intact. Is there any way to move the library-directories out of the portable copy and into a fixed installation on my hard drive?

Just copy the whole library folder to the place you want it and if you install a fresh version of Calibre, point it to that folder (Switch/create library -> Use the previously existing library at the new location). Does the library folder have a file named metadata.db inside it?

Apparently, it's actually a bunch of libraries: here's the list
r:\Calibre Portable\TG\metadata.db
r:\Calibre Portable\Periodicals\metadata.db
r:\Calibre Portable\Other Categories\metadata.db
r:\Calibre Portable\Nonfiction\metadata.db
r:\Calibre Portable\Manuals\metadata.db
r:\Calibre Portable\Health Net\metadata.db
r:\Calibre Portable\Games\metadata.db
r:\Calibre Portable\Fiction\metadata.db

I'll move 'em all. Thank you.

Just to make the future easier, you might want to think about combining them all into one library and then use virtual libraries to divvy them up. Give all the books in each library that library tag and create a virtual library based on that tag.

It doesn't hurt to keep them all separate, it will just make any future moves easier

IMHO The main reason to NOT make V/L's is the (custom column) structure is different or there is a reason to keep one really private .

K.I.S.S. avoids a lot of issues

Yeah, didn't think about custom columns, as I don't use them. That would be a nightmare for all those libraries if they each had one...

Custom Columns are not a problem. I am only pointing out that there is no need for multiple libraries if they are the same. A VL will get the job done.

I am all for a Lean, Mean Database.
Don't STORE something:
1) Not used every Library
2) Something that can be calculated / searched for on the fly when needed

I was taught: Flat files are EVIL

Actually, I'm grateful for the mention of custom columns. I was forced by circumstances to add a "series 2" field since some of my fiction books are in multiple series. For example, Dennis Wheatley's "The Devil Rides Out" is listed as both Black Magic [1] and Duc de Richelau [2]
