Kindle trade-in Amazon Offered Prices

Seems to me like the trade-in amounts offered for older Kindle readers, particularly the Kindle DX and Touch are inadequate. Looking at the latest PW reader listing the trade ins for older models through the Kindle touch, including the DX, is a up to $5.00 gift card while DX prices on ebay for a claimed clean sample are still in the $125+ range. The one listed new one is listed at $400!

The Voyage with wifi and 3G is only $50 and the 32 GB Oasis G9 with 4G and wifi is $75. Again get considerably more for either on ebay.

Just like an older car, they are always worth more on the open market than as a trade in.

Last spring, I traded in a Kindle 2, got $5 and 25% off of the new Paperwhite, which was on sale at the time, making the price $68.

Pure trade in value sucks but if you're already buying a new Kindle anyway, it can be better and less hassle than ebay when coupled with the 25% trade in discount.

I traded in a bricked PW2 and got $5 for trade in and got ~$40-50 discount off PW4 32GB Wi-Fi Non-SO.

A while back I considered a trade in, but there was also get a 25% discount on a new one with a trade in. That made it seem attractive.
