Troubleshooting Paperwhite 2018, pageturn difficulties

Dear forum readers

I am the proud owner of a fine kindle paper white 2018 e reader with the latest software (5.12.3) on it.

I experience problems turning pages after 3 or 4 pages.
Normally the screen is very responsive when tapping on the right bottom side with my thumb, but every 3 or 4 pages i have to tap like 4 times or swipe read hard to get a page turn.
After that, 3 or 4 pages turn correctly.

Anyone knows what this could cause?

I just bought a paperwhite this week. it also has version 5.12.3. I have noticed an occasional lag when turning pages and also when trying to wake it up. So far it's no big deal just annoying!

I'll keep my eye open for a solution. Maybe send in a report or call support?

Reboots usually fix odd behavior. Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds, then wait as it reboots.

If the device is new, and you've downloaded a lot of books, the indexing process can chew up the battery and make the device "laggy."

I've been using Kindles since 2009, and reboots are the first thing to try when they misbehave.

And also try to turn off the power saver option (somewhere in the advanced settings of Kindle).
On PW4 it is a new feature (thanks to new CPU), which is turned on by default.

Thanks for the help. I have rebooted and everything appears to be working properly.

Thank you all for your replies.

Since the new 5.12.4 firmware, I do not have any page turning problems anymore.
And the tip to switch off the power savings prevented the kindle to light up while awakening at night, so that's a big plus too.
