Lots of Calibres

Today I went to open a downloaded .ebook on my Catalina Mac. The "Open With" option listed 21 different versions of Calibre. It has never done that before. Then I tried to "Open Containing Folder" for a book. It tried to open "Path Finder", an app that I deleted from my Mac months ago.

A week ago Calibre worked fine without these features.

It keeps re-creating "Path Finder.app" which doesn't open. How do I make Calibre use Finder again the way it did last week?

This might be obvious, but have you checked your Applications folder to make sure there's no duplicates of Calibre? Also worth doing a global search to make sure there's no versions of Calibre sticking around outside the Applications folder.

Which version of calibre ?

You could revert to an earlier version, there's a link on the calibre - Download for macOS page, just below the Donate button.

I had a similar problem on Windows a few years ago, the solution was to run a 'calibre-debug --default-programs unregister' command and set the CALIBRE_NO_DEFAULT_PROGRAMS environment variable - but I am pretty sure that is/was a Windows Only solution.

calibre simply asks the OS to open files and folders. The rest is up to the OS.

I just tried the instructions in https://mac-how-to.gadgethacks.com/h...-os-x-0157100/

That seemed to work.
