There are no 5.12.3 updates for PW2, KT2 yet.
Amazon might stop updating old models, PW1 has been frozen on 5.6.1.1.

I suspect that this update includes a fix for the widows and orphans problem in the 5.12.2 firmware, but I have not had a chance to test it yet.

(Edit: The new firmware now obeys the widows and orphans formatting set for each book in KFX - Enhanced Typesetting. It still defaults to "2", meaning that unless a book is coded otherwise it will be rendered without widows and orphans, resulting in fewer lines on some pages.)

Looking into the new firmware I see an unactivated feature, called KPP or kindle++ internally. It involves a redesigned "Aa" menu.

Strings include: "Some reading options have moved" and "Go to the Aa menu inside a book to find settings including Popular Highlights, Book Mentions and Word Wise."

KPP is likely undergoing internal testing and planned to be enabled for customers in a future firmware release.

I have asked several options many times.
Does Amazon pay attention to customers?
I have requested several times not to suspend the kindle , I need to customize this.
The fact that is suspended all time, alone I think that in my case makes me consume more battery.
I have it to study and it is a big problem for me to turn off the book reader all the time every 15min, I have also requested better compatibility of scanning a book to pdf (better viewing of the pdf, some solution) and finally I requested that added ways to see a history of everything I've read and see the equivalent in saved trees ... xD
But I guess those requests ignore anything right?

Amazon is notorious for ignoring customer requests for Kindle updates. I’ve been using Kindles since 2007 when the Kindle 2 was released, and we constantly requested better options for font weight and other basic text formatting control. It took them many, many years to finally give us somewhat decent control of text formatting. Amazon seems more focused on new features that generate more sales than they do on usability. So I wouldn't hold my breath.

Well I am someone that just read the books I have come to like, which is just about any author. I don't get in to any fancy options on my kindle. And I do not keep a whole lot of books on my kindle. I only pay attention to the time left in the chapter, and sometimes the time left in the book. All of the rest of it is just there and unimportant.

The name kindle++ seems awfully ambitious for a change to the Aa menu. I suspect that this is just one step in a larger UI revamp.

I love updates if they add new changes/things - although it's rare it's something I'll notice.

I'm wondering:

"After installing the new software, the What’s New page says the update adds Library Badges to Prime Reading and Kindle Unlimited books. Basically they put a label at the top so you can easily identify them."

The work to give these all badges makes little sense to me since they now have the filter feature where you can easily filter to see Unlimited, Read, unread, Etc., so easily now. The badges are almost redundant, although who knows, maybe it will be useful for some.
