fell unconscious, replacing the wifi chip, kubrick attempt

Kindle 3 WiFi + 3G - just suddenly stopped working. No reaction on slide button, no USB connection - nothing. Only orange light for about 30secs. Battery was at 90% at that time. Opened and measured some voltages. 1.8V line was dead shorted to GND. The wifi chip was warmer of all suspects (finger detected ), so it was de-soldered. Measured the 1.8V pads for short and indeed there was a short to GND inside the chip itself. It is unobtainable, so I bought а broken K3 pcb for cheap as a donor for Atheros AR 6102G wifi chip, hoping that it's alive.
The replaced wifi chip:

Now 1.8V is OK and reader starts to boot, but then stops on about 30%. Connected via USB to serial (1.8V) using PuTTY. Booting process always stopped at the message for some problem with AR6 and saying that something was wrong with the MAC address (forgot to copy exactly, sorry). I decided to use Kubrick to see what will happen... It took about 3 hours, everything went smoothly, but still no luck. Only now booting process looks kind of different and I don't know what to do next... Any ideas?

Here is how the booting process looks now:
Code:

After launching Kubrick for a second time from a different DVD, it looks exactly as it was before. Is the the new WiFi chip recognized or for some reason reader doesn't like the new MAC address...?

Is the chip you show now identical with the one you removed?

Why:
There are at least 3 (three) different K3 engineering builds.

Yes - Atheros AR 6102G. I decided to remove the chip and try to boot the reader without it. The boot process stops exactly on the same place with exactly the same messages. That should mean that the chip I'm soldering is not functional. Unfortunately it is unobtainable anywhere...
