New Oasis 3 deregistered itself
Well my newish Oasis 3 sat a few days without being turned on as I was too busy with other things to read. I turned it on this afternoon and started reading where I left off. I noticed a few things looked odd, like my clock not displaying while reading. So I went into settings and into Home and then realized I had absolutely no items downloaded to the Oasis 3. Everything had been erased. Then I noticed that my Oasis 3 was no longer registered. Not sure what happened or why, but I’m not too thrilled. I had to send back the first Oasis 3 a few weeks ago due to a line across the screen, and yesterday I got an email confirming it had finally been delivered to Amazon. The original Oasis 3 was deregistered by me before I returned it for the replacement. But I wonder if somehow Amazon techs accidentally deregistered my replacement when they got the returned item. Who knows. I had also been having über issues with my Amazon cloud and a work order had been written for them to fix the issues. So maybe Amazon cleared my newer Oasis 3 in the process. If so they never sent me any correspondence, and over a week ago I deleted all the old collections from the cloud and created new ones on my Oasis 3 so they would work with it. Again maybe that had some repercussions. At any rate I reregistered my newest Oasis 3 this afternoon and once it restarted I got a window stating that the Special Offers had been removed. I certainly didn’t ask nor pay for that, so hopefully I won’t get charged for it. Odd stuff, but then again I’ve grown to expect odd stuff from Amazon as regards my Kindles and Kindle apps.
Redownloading my books now... Last edited by OtinG; 12-24-2019 at 04:34 PM. |

I deregistered my kindle keyboard and expected my books to be erased from my old account. I created a new account and successfully registered the keyboard. Perhaps I needed to reset to factory defaults however I didn't want to risk not having the firmware to connect to the internet. On a side note, I was getting an alert from Amazon I was unable to download a book to a new device because I had reached "device download limits." Deregistgering my kindle keyboard allowed me to download this ebook again to a new device even though it is still on my kindle keyboard.

Amazon appears to have fixed the major issues I was having with my Kindles and the Amazon cloud collections and items. Both my newest Oasis 3 (the replacement) and the Kindle Basic 10th gen can now properly see and download from the Amazon cloud. The Kindle Basic was still registered, so I didn’t have to reregister it like I did with the Oasis 3. Hopefully the deletion of Special Offers on the Oasis 3 (they are still active on the Basic) was either a nice gesture on Amazon’s part or a snafu on their part, so hopefully I don’t get billed for it and I get to keep the Oasis 3 free of the Special Offers. SO really aren’t that big of a deal, but it is nice to open the cover and go right into the book.
I’m really happy to have cloud collections working again. No clue how they got screwed up. I’ve always had only one Amazon account, but over the past decade I’ve had more Kindles registered therein than I can remember. So maybe that caused an issue over time. It was an issue, even though some here questioned that. I hope all the others who have screwed up cloud collection issues can get Amazon to fix their’s too. Finally both of my Kindles and the Kindle apps can see the same collections and the same books and docs therein. |

My eyes.
Couldn't read that, paragraphs being held hostage and all. |

you may have hit reset instead of restart by accident. I did it many times. Drive myself nuts

It might be a complicated concept, but paragraphs are useful and it's no surprise that 99% of authours employ them. A monolithic block of text purporting to be a book would be a sales flop. And I would be one of many not reading it. |

As stated above, a few weeks ago I had spent quite a lot of time on the phone with CS trying to figure out what was wrong with my Amazon Cloud. At the end of the conversation the supervisor said he could't see what the problem was but could tell there was a problem, so he initiated a work order to have the Amazon technical staff look into it and to correct whatever issues had occurred. Clearly only some people have experienced this issue, but searching the internet turned up quite a few others who have ad similar issues with the Amazon Cloud. I have no idea how Amazon cleared up the issue, nor how it occurred. I suspect that having had at least a dozen Kindle eReaders registered over the past decade or more, plus having had at least 2 or 3 dozen Kindle apps on various devices also registered over the years, that at some point my Amazon Cloud got corrupted. It worked okay with the Kindle apps, but it simply wouldn't work very well with my Kindles. Whatever they did to correct the issue though seems to be working, so I’m grateful for that. The good thing about Kindles, or any eReader, is that they can be read on even if you have to side-load books. So having a messed up Amazon Cloud isn’t going to stop my reading of books by any means, but it was certainly inconvenient not to have my Amazon Cloud working properly. |

To each their own, I guess. Just, please, don't act so rude pointing it out that your preference is more simple and shorter. |

![]() However if you are referring to reading on a specific Kindle model due to the screen bothering your eyes, well there is only so much you can do to make improvements with that. Everyone has unique eyesight, so not everyone will care for Kindles or other eReaders. Quite frankly I was never able to use any of the Paperwhite models because of screen lighting issues which bothered my oldish eyes. The Oasis 3 is the first self lit eReader that I can read on for many hours without my eyes bothering me, but what works for me may or may not work for others. |

I have difficulty with multi-page paragraphs in books. If it is rare in the book, I will struggle through it. If it is too much of the book, I will abandon the book unless there is some compelling reason to press on. I did not refuse to read the OP, but I did quit after a few sentences. |

Okay, now I see what you guys are bitching about. This is a forum thread not a book. Get over it or move along! If your brain short circuits due to the length of a paragraph, see a shrink... I swear, this has to be one of the bitchiest groups of forum members of any forum I’ve belonged to...

Proper punctuation, spelling, grammar, and such matters. Not saying you should break your paragraphs up into smaller ones, but it will make it easier and more pleasant to read. That in turn will increase the willingness to finish reading and also to engage in discussion. Just saying. Books? That is a different story. Some authors can afford to break the rules and get away with it. And not everybody will like it. |

As I am typing this I am resting my kindle keyboard to factory defaults. . . as mentioned earlier I deregesitered the KK earlier however all of my books remained. . I'm starting to question whether these were sideloaded books. . anyways all books are gone now!
( I'm reluctantly starting to gift my old kindles away. . . bah, humbug!) |
