Smile Hello!

Hello everyone,

I am new to ebooks and am deciding which reader to buy. Presently I live in Doha, Qatar but travel home to the U.S. frequently. I am really glad I found this site. I have learned a lot, although the decision might have been easier had I not learned so much!

Thanks!

Welcome!
Feel free to hang around, post some messages, and ask questions!

Enjoy your reader (whatever it's going to be )!

Basically,if you want good looking,go for Sony (USA)
If you want functionality go for Bebook (Asia)
If you want to buy many books go for Kindle. (USA)
If you want to read many pdf files, go for Iliad. (Asia, World).

That's about it.
Cybook is about the same as Bebook, the differences are small.
It supports little less formats, but is easier to get in france and europe, while bebook is more on the Asia market if I'm correct.

Hi giamac and welcome to the Forum. Pretty sure the wireless aspect of the Kindle won't function in Qatar. As long as you have Internet access there though you'll be able to get books for the Kindle and the Sony

Thanks for the welcome and the great advice. I have been lurking for days. This is a great site if your an insomniac! You could read for months and still not run out of information. I am coming to the states next week for the holidays and I actually have a Kindle and a Sony 700 waiting. I will keep the one I like the best. The shipping on books is getting outrageous and the bookstore prices here are even higher. We really miss libraries!!! We have great internet access and downloading for the Kindle or Sony is not a problem. I don't really care about the wireless, so that's not a problem. If money were no object I would just get one of each plus an Iliad! That would be heaven.
