Recommended PW devices to jailbreak
Hi,
Living in Canada, wondering what the best options for obtaining a Kindle Paperwhite that can be reliably jailbroken? A new boxed PW3, perhaps? Thanks for the help and advice! |

Original Paperwhite and older is guaranteed jailbreakable. PW1 seems to have very uneven lighting though.
I think FW 5.9.6.1 was the last firmware shipped on the PW3 when they were doing clearance sales so brand new, sealed in box PW3 will probably work as well. Skip wi-fi setup and registration when you first get it and don't write anything to the PW3. Check the FW version first. Even if it comes with higher than 5.9.6.1, we might still be able to do something as long as it's untouched. For PW4, if you can check out the serial number on the box before buying (again, brand new sealed), there's a list of manufacture dates and stock firmware versions in the PW4 JB thread. |
