Ingram Spark
Greetings from an occasional Calibre user.
I'm getting content.opf error messages trying to upload an .epub to IngramSpark. Checking the archives here I see that this is not new: [ERROR]OEBPS/content.opf: 2,213: URL expected instead of calibre: [ERROR]OEBPS/content.opf: 22,46: Undecleared prefix: calibre I also see the recommended solution: "It's a bug in whatever validator it uses. It probably chokes on a prefix attribute that has multiple prefixes or prefixes it does not know about. You can work around it by deleting the calibre prefix and any properties that use it from the OPF." As with someone on that old thread, I don't know enough to know how to "delete the calibre prefix and any properties that use in from the OPF. I've tried a couple of different deletions, but nothing works. If anyone is willing to hold my hand, I'd appreciate it. I note that these errors msgs occur when I try to upload the file after using the cailbre edit function, btw. And yet the content.opf file does not appear to change. I be stumped. Thanks! |

I use Sigil's Edit Metadata tool to get rid of extraneous entries in the content.opf.

Open the book in the calibre editor, open the content.opf file in the book. Look for prefix="something" from that something delete the calibre:... part
And before doing this in the editor preferences, under integration with calibre turn off the setting to update metadata. This will prevent opening the book in the editor re-adding the calibre prefixes. |

![]() That got rid of [ERROR]OEBPS/content.opf: 2,213: URL expected instead of calibre: But-- [ERROR]OEBPS/content.opf: 22,46: Undecleared prefix: calibre remains. I'm guessing from my research that I need to remove some part of this line in the opf: <meta property="calibre:author_link_map">{"Susan Larson": ""}</meta> </metadata> Can you please advise? And thanks for the info on turning off "update metadata" The return of text that I had edited out was driving me wild. |
