The ugly new reader
Please restore/add an option to use the integrated eBook reader in the previous look-and-feel ASAP. This new from 4.0 release is so ugly!
If I'm running a software from a desktop I need a desktop interface, not an emulated eink interface. BTW many thanks for all hard work on maintaining and developing this impressive software. |

I also prefer the older viewer. In a different thread I was linked to a work around to keep the old viewer while using the new version of Calibre, thanks to the very helpful Sirtel. Hopefully there will be more customization options in the future to make things easier for those that preferred the old viewer, but this workaround is great in the meantime.

It's similar to Sirtel's idea, but it doesn't involve changing Windows Default Programs or Windows Open With BR |

I like the new viewer. The one thing I do miss is the scroll bar.
I just wish the bad mouthing would stop. |

Since I mostly used my scroll wheel (and now, space bar). The few times I do need the menu, I simply hit Esc. 1 extra keystroke OMG. And if I leave the TOC open (I make the window wider), I can jump using the mouse

Ditto here, I really like the new reader. I often have 2 books open at a time and I like that the TOC is now linked to the book instead of having 2 (or more)TOC's on the screen.

I love Calibre and have upgraded to version 4.
However, I can't get on with the new Viewer. I always use the viewer to see what my finished ebooks look like but I find as I scroll through the just finished ebook I keep seeing the dreaded pizza wheel of death. It seems, the new viewer cannot keep pace with my scrolling. So I have installed Calibre Portable v 3.48 and have associated it's book viewer for my viewing. Problem solved. ![]() |

I also like the new viewer. I use it on my Surface pro and have never used the scroll bar. I like to touch the edge of the screen to turn the page. My thump is right there and I can change the page with very little effort.
