Front cover page not showing black background

Hi,

I'm a publisher who has created an anthology which also features South Asian languages.

I am having trouble with the front cover and I'm hoping someone can help.

I am not going to sell from Amazon but from my own website. When I place the .mobi file created from Calibre into the Kindle folder, the front page is blank/has no black background as is customary with other Kindle books I have bought from Amazon.

Is it possible to resolve this?

Also, books published by Penguin and other big publishers have their front page automatically come up when the ebook is opened. How can I achieve the same?
