feat req.: Indexing through Calibre

The Sony Reader after unplugging the device will start indexing the files within it's memory and on the external cards.
this indexing process is generally quite fast, except when you download the gutenberg archive from this site, or the gutenberg site, and put that on an SD card.
I currently am waiting nearly 30 minutes for about 1GB of lrf books to be indexed.

I noted that Sony generally indexes faster when books already have been indexed before on the device.
So my question might be if Calibre is able to add new books to the index, so that upon removing the USB cable the reader will re-index a lot faster!
Kind of retrieving the database file, and updating it.
Mainly because a PC has plenty more horsepower and can do the job in a matter of a minute, as opposed to the reader doing this for 30minutes to an hour!
