Having Issues With Books

I purchased 3 books from kobo today and downloaded them by wifi. I had a problem with one book and it said something was wrong with the file. I chose *repair* and it still didn't open. I logged in and out of my account on the kobo and the books downloaded and I tapped on the same book and it opened.

After I had signed in the book would skip from chapter to chapter, each tap on the side of the screen to turn a page ended up making the book go back in whatever chapter it was on. I would tap again and it would bring up the cover page and the cover picture would just blow up in size with each tap.

I tried the other books and the same thing happened on those too. I downloaded a library book to see if the same thing would happen and yep!

I did a factory reset and the books downloaded and the same thing happened again. I downloaded a new library book and the same thing happened to that again as well.

My kobo was working perfectly fine up until I downloaded those books a few hours ago.

Help!

Wow, I've never heard of anything like this - this is weird. I'm not sure I understand what this Repair function is - you don't mean Windows, do you? Either way, what I would suggest is doing a factory reset instead of simply signing out of the device and seeing if the problem comes back or not.

How did you do the factory reset? And what firmware versions are involved? Starting with firmware 4.15.x, the factory reset from the setting doesn't wipe the device completely. If the issue is in the firmware, you need to do a manual factory reset. See https://help.kobo.com/hc/en-us/artic...-Kobo-Clara-HD for details.

And from your first post, I haven't seen anything like that except where the book was very badly constructed, or the database was corrupted badly. What you have done should have fixed the latter. And, unless the books all came from the same publisher or author, I wouldn't have expected there to be problems like for a set of books like this.

It might help to know what the books are. We might be able to see an issue with them. But, try the manual factory first. Hopefully that will solve it.

As per what I said in my OP and my previous post I have done a factory reset. I go in to settings, press reset and the kobo resets and restarts. The firmware is up to date.

As davidfor said, the way you did it is actually not a full factory reset. He posted the link to do a manual factory reset.
