A Way College Students MIGHT Be Able to Save Some Money on eTextbooks.
Isn't the price of textbooks outrageous these days? Probably no more than when I went to college, though, considering inflation and stuff. And buying (or renting) the ebook textbooks ("etextbooks") (not an option when I was in college full-time, it was so long ago
![]() Anyway, for those few following this subforum who are about to begin college for the fall, here's a hint that might save you some money on even etextbooks--find out who the publisher is for each one of the textbooks that you will need, or are needing now, and go visit those publishers' websites. Rummage around. Some of them sell directly to the end consumer, and if they do, they sometimes have sales on their textbooks. And guess when during the year they have these sales? Yep, at the beginning of semesters or quarters. Case in point. And before I go any further, let me emphasize that these are not ebooks. But it serves as an example of what I said above. PalgraveMacmillan currently has a huge number of hardcover textbooks on sale for $25 each right now. Some of them retail for $190! (I'm going to buy 2 or 3 of them, myself, that sound interesting and have great ratings). Now, I admit that finding out who the publishers are for your etextbooks, and finding, then perusing the websites of their publishers is a lot of trouble to go to, when you have no guarantee of success. But if your finances are very tight, or you are just very tight-fisted with your money, this might be a way for you to save some much-appreciated $$$$.
