How can I label my name/phone onto Forma, so if I misplace it, I'll be contacted?
I was at the doctor's clinic yesterday and when I arrived home, I noticed the Kobo Forma wasn't in my bag. I thought it was a goner, but today, when I called the clinic, the receptionist told me it was there. Happily I retrieved it just a few hours ago.
I had nothing on my Forma -- no stickers, Post-It notes, labels -- indicating my ownership or my contact information. What do you all recommend I do? On my Samsung phone, I can enter "owner's info" in the settings, so that when someone picks up my phone and presses the power button, they'll see my email address and phone number. what about with a forma? |

You could create picture with your details and use it as sleep screen.

don't expect people to know how to use ereader and look up owner info. sleep screen and such is great but too risky (gone after factory reset which is easy to trigger) |

Isn't a person who's willing to factory reset and get rid of the contact info on the sleep/off screen the same sort of person willing to peel off the sticker you suggest? |

Go to a trophy store and have them make a little brass plaque that you put on the side above or below the buttons. Make the text sideways so it'll fit nicely. Have the plaque's edges beveled and rounded so it's not annoying when your fingers slide over it. If you're loaded, instead of the cheesy brass make it sliver, gold, or titanium. Attach it with epoxy.

Thanks, LumpyNose. That's quite an idea. I like the feel of the rubber that the buttons are set into, though. When I get my USB cable, I'll try to make a less drastic change -- and heed pokkis's advice. I'll see how that goes first.

Here is my first implementation of pokkis's advice, using davidforr's "random screensaver" "hack.
P.S. I came across another way of creating your own screensavers by frostschutz at https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...82&postcount=1 . When I look at the last 2 attached images (as thumbnails), I like it a lot, because the image is black on white while sleeping (just like Kobo's default) and white on black while powered off (again, just like Kobo's default). But I wonder if that 2015 tip is still applicable in 2019, or if there's a better way to do what frostschutz has implemented. Last edited by droopy; 08-29-2019 at 02:55 PM. |

what I meant is that sometimes, factory resets just happen
storage filled to the brim, corrupt database, usb device not ejected properly, etc. a sticker on the back (or on the case or whatever) should do no harm at all a sticker can also be placed so only people who take a closer look at the item can see it, not visible to everyone around you, but I guess that depends on circumstance/environment the built-in screensaver is much faster than my addon (well, duh) but it does not differentiate between standby/poweroff. for your use case I'd still recommend sticking to the builtin feature as mine does not work in case a charger is connected, or (probably in case of forma) with rotation in effect, etc. |

Ah, I see what you're saying, frostschutz.
I'll look into my options for a label that goes on the outside of the Forma (and not just some e-ink message on the screen). Last edited by droopy; 08-29-2019 at 03:20 PM. |

Here is a size-30-font contact info on the screensaver:
Hmmmm... size 30 maybe to small for older people's eyes. Gotta go with a larger size. |

Sorry, but the owner information as a sleep image is NOT going to work. In fact, it's a major fail because if you have a sleep cover, when the cover is opened, the owner information goes away. You close the cover, the image comes back but then is not seen. So really, that's just a fail of epic proportions. I've hardly seen the cover of the book that's used as the sleep image.
Oh and one thing, it is NOT a screnesaver as the screen doesn't need to be saed so please don't call it a screensaver, |

I hope you read my post saying that the putting your information on the sleep screen is major fail. Open the cover and your information is not seen. So what the resolution is doesn't matter as it's an epic fail.
