Fixing black-and-white covers
I somehow managed to convert all my book covers to black and white, rather than color.

What I want to do, to clarify, is to have color images for the books on my computer, yet convert them to greyscale for sending to my kindle.

I cannot find the setting for black-and-white covers (Calibre has a lot of settings ....). Help please?

There is no setting for black and white covers. calibre never converts covers to black and white. The only place clibre does convert images to black and white is via an option in th econverting comics. I'm guessing you installed some plugin that converts covers.

OK. Which plugins are likely to be the ones that convert -- not just covers, but all images inside the book as well -- into black-and-whites?

The easier question is which plugins do you have installed? A much shorter list than going through all the plugins that have been created for calibre.

Hmmm... in conversion, under input options, the comic input has an option to grayscale images.

There doesn't appear to be a way to copy the list of installed plug-ins.

Press the the Preferences->Miscellaneous->Open calibre configuration directory button, open the plugins subfolder, sort on extension - the zips are the plugins.

Aha! Personal.ini has this:


## Change image to grayscale, if graphics library allows, to save
## space.
grayscale_images: true

Easy fix now that I found that.
