Hand written essays?

I am sorry if this has been asked already; I *did* try searching the forum first

How are Onyx Boox devices for writing? Most people I see connect a keyboard but what if I wanted to hand write something longer than a note, such as an essay? Will it recognize indentations and paragraphs as I write or will I need to do a bunch of reformatting after?

I am attracted to writing things out by hand but it can be a hassle to type them out again.

Apologies in advance to my pens. I still love you!

You will have to do some reformatting. Sometimes words are sandwiched together. Sometimes the order of words is reversed. Paragraph breaks don't seem to register... But I have pretty messy handwriting so I still find it rather impressive that it can make out any of what I write.

Perhaps if your handwriting is more legible than mine, you will have less editing/reformatting to do.

I don't think that the messy handwriting is the problem. My handwriting is not so bad and it makes the same (changing the order of the words and putting them together) - in Romanian, it's true.
I've noticed that if the handwriting is very small (the letters are half of the normal height) the recognition is almost perfect, but in this case the handwriting note itself is not very showy. Also the recognition works very well for 3-4 words or a sentence (when writing with the Onyx virtual keyboard in a text input application like iaWriter for example).

Would you say then that the handwriting is only good for a few sentences? Sounds disappointing :/

Well, I'm saying that using the Onyx keyboard in a text input application, the handwriting recognition is working well. The video below is made in real time.

I noticed also that when using the KNote application the Handwriting recognition is working correctly when the rows of the page are quite far apart. Using 16 lines per page the recognition is good, it does not change the order of the words (remaining only to insert the spaces), while using the page with 20 rows the order of the words is affected in some sentences.

Excellent explanation, video and photos. Wish my handwriting was that nice.
