Blame me if the question is stupid or off topic, maybe I didn't understand the concept...
After I uninstalled Callibre, can I delete the library folder - with other words, is it containing copies of the book files, or were the files moved when the library was created? Thank you in advance for your answer! |

Yes, the files would have been copied
Just make sure you have the originals (i.e. the book files you added) somewhere else. BR |

DO not touch the Calibre created Library folder. (typically named Calibre Library, but it could be any name) or contents in any way (no renaming files) Calibre keeps track of where it put things by filename and path. you touch those and you break the linkage
Calibre ADDS book from the sources you used. Once added to Calibre, THOSE can go away (archive, move to off-line storage) In addition: The working Calibre Library, MUST be on local attached (SATA, USB, Firewire) storage, NOT a LAN share or NAS. |

Because you had to ask if the files were moved or copied I am guessing that you cannot see for yourself if the original files are still where they were. This may be because you have forgotten or no longer have access to the original location(s).
If in doubt use Save to Disk to make a copy of your books before uninstalling calibre. Do not delete your library unless you are absolutely certain that you will not be reinstalling calibre and that you have good copies of all your books. |

If for some reason you no longr want to use Calibre: The libray folder structure is still usable (only the metadata may be lost)
The folder structure is: Libraryname/Authorname/booktitle(index#)/formats,a cover imagefile, metadata backupfile The index# serves 2 purposes. It allows for more than 1 edition of a title and that was the linkage to the database (what you saw in Calibre) |
